Artist Statement

I am a Painter. Well I kind of prefer the term ‘Interdisciplinary’ mainly based on the fact that I work over a range of artistic processes and areas of Sculpture, Painting, Drawing and Installation. This exploration journey has allowed me to respond more truthfully to the artistic world, by establishing a stronger sense of my self within my practice and processes of making work.
My practice is inspired by Abstract Art and its progression over its period, how gestural/action work has shifted towards a more formal approach in my practice as allowed me to experience a more controlled and minimal essence of aesthetic and formalistic image making.

Colour is of extreme importance in my practice. Along with Line, Surface, Scale, Shape, it plays a key role in getting the observer attracted to my work, by ensuring they recognize the use of play and input of colour as a key Abstract component.

It has become clear how I have responded to conventional attitudes of painting but altered and adapted them to a higher and more current contemporary level of vision.
