Acrylic Studies on Gloss Paper

With interest towards pigment and its realtionship and behaviour on a surface,  exploring a variation of surface results was of a playful experimentation route which I discovered. Gloss photo paper is a very admirable surface which has an excellent flat glossy surface that aims to create high quality visual outcomes. As it is used to print photographs on I was pre-dominantly interested to see how pigment would live on the surface and whether the surface could alter the pigment aesthetics and visual presence. A variety of approaches were realised such as ..

Palette Knife pigment application, Wet on Wet, Scraping and Scratching into paint etc. The results varied yet showed a extreme high level of quality in surface depth and presence.
